Pornhub Announces 2nd Annual “Pornhub Cares” Scholarship Contest for Women Pursuing STEM-related Careers
Leading Adult Entertainment Platform to Award $25,000 to an Outstanding Female Applicant
New York, NY (September 22, 2016) – Pornhub, the premiere online destination for adult entertainment, today announced the launch of its second annual $25,000 Pornhub Cares Scholarship. This year the scholarship will be open to women pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) exclusively. The company will be accepting applications until October 31, 2016, with the winner being chosen and announced shortly thereafter.
“For our second iteration of the Pornhub Cares Scholarship, we want to recognize outstanding female scholars studying in STEM-related fields who are striving to make the world a better place each and every day. We recognize that women are vastly underrepresented in tech-related fields and want to do our part to change that,” said Corey Price, Vice President, Pornhub. “As scientific and technological innovations continue to shape our everyday lives, it’s especially important to cultivate STEM knowledge and skills. With our scholarship this year we are hoping to empower the next generation of female innovators.”
“For our second iteration of the Pornhub Cares Scholarship, we want to recognize outstanding female scholars studying in STEM-related fields who are striving to make the world a better place each and every day. Entrants for this year’s Pornhub Cares Scholarship are required to submit an essay between 1,000 and 1,500 words in length, answering the following question: “How are you working towards making the world a better place?” Submissions may also include a video clip between two and five minutes in length, further illustrating the entrant’s response, though this is optional. Applications must come complete with the applicant’s resume and an official academic transcript. Selection of a winner will be conducted by an esteemed panel of Pornhub judges. Each entry will be assessed based on a number of criteria including inherent traits such as leadership and creativity, alongside more tangible accomplishments such as extracurricular activities and dedication to community service efforts.
Last year Pornhub debuted the Pornhub Cares Scholarship, awarding it to San Antonio, Texas native MaryAnn Uribe for her outstanding academic accomplishments, indelible personality and ability to make others happy in the face of immense adversity. “I am honored and forever grateful for being chosen as the first ever recipient of the Pornhub Cares Scholarship,” said Uribe. “It has allowed me to fulfill my educational aspirations at Troy University while simultaneously giving back to the community. I hope one day I will be able to pay this forward by helping others achieve their goals just as Pornhub has helped me. Thank you for believing in my future!”
To qualify for the Pornhub Cares Scholarship female applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited post-secondary institution, be in a STEM-related field, and be 18 years of age or older at the time of application. Limit one entry per entrant; duplicate entries will be disqualified.
